Although all of us are the same in some ways, and very different in others, we categorize ourselves, or others categorize us, into various groups based on some real or perceived similarities and/or differences.

This can be justified, useful, and practical, but it also opens the way to many conflicts between groups, in addition to conflicts between individuals.

International, inter-"racial", inter-religious enmity/strife are very much our concern again. Economic and social status, age, gender issues, degree of physical and mental ability, or ideology are also often bases for discrimination, exclusion, or hatred to the point of violence.

We must learn to let go of our prejudices, and our hateful behaviours. We must learn to accept that we live in a multi-faceted world, where we need to cooperate in our efforts to provide a fulfilling life for all of us.
